Briarhurst Manor in Manitou Springs, Colorado.
Over Christmas Break, I discovered one of my new favorite places. I went to Colorado to plan my wedding with my fiancee and to do the cake and entree tastings. I had booked my wedding at Briarhurst Manor but had not been there myself - my fiancee's mom had only been to verify the place when I first was interested in booking from all the way in Oklahoma. The place has quite a bit of history and I was very excited to see the place myself. Additionally, it is at the base of Pikes Peak and is right next to the Garden of the gods so the area itself is very nice. When I visited, I walked in the side of the house where ivory covered the front of the building - I had seen this side of the building in many of the wedding pictures; the bride would look out from the window on the top floor to her new husband below the ivy-covered window (I may not be describing them well, but they're beautiful and cute photos). Anyways, when I went to Briarhurst, of course the place was very elegant inside with a library, a winding wooden staircase, old portraits, and probably just about anything you'd imagine in a historic manor. I got to try the food (for the wedding) and man, it was good (the place is a fancy restaurant in addition to a wedding venue so the food is what they really profit off of). In addition, everyone was incredibly friendly and eager to help. I am very excited to go to the venue once again!
Oh my gosh, Taylor: that is so exciting about your wedding coming up! Congratulations!!! I really like the idea of writing about a favorite place that is going to become even more important to you in the future. Fantastic! What a truly excellent Christmas break! :-)
